It always seemed like no matter what I did to keep my skin looking it’s best during the winter – it was always left looking dry or dull. Through much trial + error, behold, I bring you, my favorite ways to keep my skin hydrated through these oh so long winter months.

Serums are your BFF’s: Winter leaves our skin looking dry and dull. Don’t let the cold get the best of you and add a serum to your daily skincare and make-up routine. Mix 1-2 drops to your foundation for a dewy look and apply before bed to a clean face to lock in moisture.
Extra: Don’t feel like wearing make-up? Skip the foundation + apply a serum on it’s own to keep your skin looking hydrated and awake.
– My favorite: Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum

Opt for a thicker moisturizer: Your everyday moisturizer probably isn’t going to cut it anymore. Upgrade to a thick, creamy moisturizer that will keep your skin hydrated all day.
– My favorite: Dr. Jart Ceramidin Cream

Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate: The trick is to not go overboard. Once a week, gently exfoliate your face + body to rid all of the dry, dead skin.
Extra: Apply a body butter within minutes of stepping out of the shower. Staying in the bathroom and allowing the steam to mix with your product will keep your skin soft for longer.
– My favorite: Herbivore Botanicals Coco Rose Exfoliant

Use a face mask 2 times a week: To restore hydration, use a moisturizing mask twice a week. Avoid anything filled with too many chemicals, charcoal, or rough exfoliants. The key to treat skin gently during the winter – so leave out anything that might irritate your face.
– My favorite: Too Cool For School Egg Cream Mask

Don’t skip on the lips: Always carry a lip balm with you everywhere you go. Chapped lips are a no-go.
Extra: Skip the tinted lip balm as they have been known to dry out much quicker. Unscented and pigment free are usually thicker, and filled with better ingredients.
– My favorite: L’Occitane Moisturizing Lip Balm
