If you follow me on Snapchat, you definitely remember my depressing first day on my juice cleanse. It wasn’t pretty and people actually thought I was being dramatic for laughs. (Something I do on the reg) Unfortunately, ya’ girl was tres, tres serious. The 3 day juice cleanse was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my whole 20 years of living.
I always wanted to hop on the bandwagon and complete a juice cleanse, but every time that I tried, I was back to eat almond croissants 4 hours later. I knew my trip to Tulum was right around the corner and decided there was no better time to commit than the weekend before I left. I scoped out a few companies and wanted to choose which cleanse was right for me. Lizzy Jay’s Juice sent me a customized 3 day weight loss cleanse as it was my first time. The cleanse consisted of 5 types of juices: crisp greens, pure greens, veggie mix, spicy lemonade, carrot twist, and my favorite… smooth cashew. There was enough variety that I never grew sick of the juices during the 3 days.
Deciding to take on a juice cleanse is more beneficial to your body than your IG followers thinking you’re trendy AF. Which they probably will anyways. Win win. Some of the benefits include weight loss, hydration, reduce cell damage, and improving digestion. Lizzy Jay’s Juice is set apart from the rest because their juice goes through a cold, water-pressure method called High Pressure Processing (HPP). LJJ website says, “HPP uses extremely high water pressure (pressure roughly enough to equal the water pressure at the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean) to kill the most dangerous foodborne bacteria that can cause illnesses. But because HPP does not use high temperatures, the taste, color, texture and nutritional values of the juice is preserved. This processes ensures that all of our juices are safe to drink (pathogens are removed) without losing any vitamins, minerals or live enzymes. You’re left with the most vibrant bottle of 100% goodness packed with the maximum amount of nectar.” I also decided to go for Lizzy Jay’s Juice because they have 24/7 support. I ended up not needing it, but I’m a sucker for companies who care about their customers. Whether you’d rather email or speak to someone over the phone, there’s always someone there.
Day one was the hardest day. I immediately want breakfast the second I wake up, so having to fight the urge for some bacon, eggs, and avo. Not today. I drink my first juice, Crisp Greens and it’s good. I started on a Saturday because I figured I would have been tired and I was right. By 3 pm, I had my 3rd juice and didn’t have much energy to do anything besides binge watch Real Housewives. Which… who’s really complaining? I felt lethargic and cranky. Suddenly, every commercial of food begins to look like porn and I wanted nothing more to give up. Instead, I napped. I knocked out a good couple of hours that I didn’t have to think about food and before I knew it, it was time for dinner: smooth cashew. I sipped this juice so slowly, I drank it over the span of the entire hour. It’s the most filling and delicious, and tasted damn divine after what I endured that day. I was out by 10 pm.
Day two starts of with carrot twist which becomes my new favorite for breakfast. I felt like a great night’s sleep and woke up hungry – but not starving. Which was the new ‘top of the world’ vibe. I took on the day slowly, sure to not excerpt too much energy. I spent the afternoon drankin’ juice and tidying up around the house. The hunger has died down and I’m not having sexual feelings about food anymore. I was almost feeling full. I decided to get out of the house and spend the day shopping in Soho. If I can’t eat, I’ll shop. I brought a juice with me and gave sip n’ shop a whole new meaning. I spent a few hours walking around and felt okay, until I ran out of juice and decided it was time to head home to Spicy Lemonade. My friend eats dominos in the same room as me, it’s painful, but I’m living.
My last day of my cleanse is here. I wake up feeling refreshed, awake and ready for a full day of traveling as we head to Tulum. I start off with Carrot Twist and move my way in to Pure Greens by the time I’m done packing. Half way through the day and I’ve got a minor headache but no hunger. I think I was halfway exhausted from last minute packing and the usual stress that flying brings on. Food is so ‘eh’ to me now, mostly because I’m really proud of myself for making it this far. I didn’t really think I would successfully complete it, but I did and I’ve never felt so in control of something which is one of the best feelings for me (Type A). As I couldn’t bring any juices with me on the plane and they would have spoiled in my suitcase, I nibbled on a small fruit plate for dinner to ease my way back into food. My first day of the cleanse, I jumped right in and ate a HUGE breakfast and it really didn’t even taste as good as I thought that first bite of food would. I was like, “uh… this is it?” I was expecting fireworks, maybe an orchestra in my head, a few angels flying above me… No theatrics here. Now that I completed the 3 day, I’m excited to try a 5 day in the spring, as LJJ recommends doing a juice cleanse every season.
From my juice cleanse, I dropped a few pounds and my stomach was crazy toned. As my appetite decrease my stomach ‘shrank’ and I began to feel full with smaller portions. From shredding the first initial pounds, I’ve been to keep the weight off and I’ve since lost 10 pounds from maintaining a healthy diet and working out every day. It took a lot of discipline the first day, but seeing how toned I was really made it worth it. Want to try it out for yourself? Shop Lizzy Jay’s Juice cleanses here.
